MI-8 crash @ Barentsburg Spitzbergen.
3 reported dead of 9 total.
Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet reports it as a landing accident.
http://www.dagbladet.no/nyheter/2008/03/30/531023.html
Temperatures reported at around -14C, so far from extreme for this arctic environment.
What you see to the right in the pic is the sea, those are the exact colors of the sky up there, very unique place.
News-report says fuel at Barentsburg checked for contamination before helicopter was sent from Longyear(pop. 1000) to bring people to "hospital."(The doctor at Longyear)
It is only about 40 Km from Longyear to Barentsburg, but no land connection except snowmobile.

Gust of wind blew the helo into the hangar wall according to the news reports.
The 3 dead are the 2 pilots and one passenger. TV just reported that 2 critically injured patients have been transported to Longyear medical center with the Sysselmann (Police) helo.
Sad loss again for the Russian community at Svalbard, RIP
