European Helicopter Statistics

I am a student carrying out a project looking at helicopter accidents and am wondering if anyone knows an up to date number of the amount of civil registered helicopters in Europe. I have a number for the start of 2000 at around 4823, but no source to back it up. I kinda need sources to back up my stats you see. I have been sending lots of emails out to companies and societies to no avail.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Regards
Craig

I am not sure how up to date the data is (looks like Sep 2007), but you can try www.helicoptersafety.org for UK based accidents, and the author has another site www.griffin-helicopters.co.uk which also has a larger database of accidents on it.

I believe the data is from relevant regulatory authorities and many other sources - sure Gary spent a long time getting it all together!
