G-BHOF was the first S-61 I ever flew! It looked like this at the time:
You may notice it is parked next to G-BCEB which is also a Penzance machine.
It later looked like this for a while:
Presumably it has been sold again if it is being exported. What is it's fate?

I remember when she was new!! In those days we also had G-BHOG and
G-BHOH, I wonder what happened to them? We used to think they were hi tech because they had an HSI unlike the oldies which had small RMIs!! BHOG even had a Litton Omega which would store a massive 10 waypoints!!

OG is now with British International.
OH is now N616CK and is logging in BC with Croman. It flew over my head one day this summer when we were swimming at the beach! I also see KC pretty regularly parked across the ramp.
I also remember them all very well when they were brand new.

And it was so complicated that it created its own little empire of specially trained pilots!

You are so right, one had to be "Litton Checked" to fly BHOG as Captain. Since the Litton Checked Captains didn't really understand the thing, us humble Co Pilots had no hope of being taught how to use it.
Anyway, we were so busy trying to work out where we really were rather than where the Litton told us it thought we should be that the combination of mystery and running a DR plot left no time to even read the book.
Decca Chart and Chain changes were simple compared to that box of 10 confused waypoints.
Come to think of it, there were lots of supplementary checks required to perform various S61 functions in the early 80s. Then the 332L arrived and the old S61 empire crumbled as its builders transferred to the new type with the exciting parts falling off and coming open!
Going back to the S61 after the empire crumbled was bliss!
