I can understand the earth bonding removes 1 resistance path but the resistance of the failing insulation between live connector\shroud on socket will also have a bearing on fuse blow times.
Rotating the socket will not keep the water out of the pin aria, due to vibration & general movement of the helicopter, hence corrosion will still be present.
If the Dauphin plug is seen as the way to go why not replace ALL with this type, an isolator for the connector would only mask the water problem, disconnecting the feed till winches are fitted would be a simple fix with minimal cost then mandatory inspections of connector once in use.
The connector failing while winching due to corrosion is not a thing to contemplate.

Perhaps forgot an "in-flight power check" prior to landing?

I find it amazing how alot of people out there aren't taught to complete a power check prior to t/o and landing.

I flew with a pilot the other day whose FI(H) during his PPL(H) course said that the red line on the MAP gauge was the limit... blimey.
