206 B engine? newbie...

I'm thinking of getting my commercial heli license, and i'm just doing some research on some heli's, trust me i don't know much. I'm just wondering, how many engines does the bell 206B have, it sounds like it has 2 on start up? Do most turbine heli's have 1 or 2 engines? Jord

Nope....206B has just the one.

It's a RollRoyce 250 C20B or J (the only difference being the cut of some of the gears in the accessory gearbox, which makes the J slightly quieter.)

As to how many engines most helicopters have - I suppose it really depends on their size.

I'm not trying to be a smart*ss or anything, but this kind of thing is easily researched, thus saving the real discussions for topics such as "how many warning lights can I illuminate on the panel before I'm well and truly **cked?

coming from Canada I'd have thought that you may have heard of one of Prince Phillip's best bloopers.

story goes like this.

The old prince has an avid interest in things rotary / aviation in general.

at a canadian airport somewhere he wanders up to a grizzled old chiefy who is 'playing' in the engine compartment of a S62,
says prince, "Tell me sir how does this aircraft perform on one engine?"

'well Mac, it goes best on one engine, it only hasss one engine'
