North Yorkshire to Kent this Sunday, a plea for help ?

Hi,

I'm new to the forum, having come across it while looking for information on hiring a helicopter / light aircraft.

I have had one introductory flying lesson, aerobatic at Sibson, which was great fun, though my main hobby is motor racing, where the G's are only two dimensional.

I have a problem this weekend, as I have to be at two circuits on the same day for the final round of my championships, (Croft & Brands Hatch), so need to find a way to get between the two circuits in 2 1/2 hours or less, departing Croft at around 14:15.

I realise it's all very last minute, but I have only just received the final timetable so would be very grateful for advice on who to contact or recommendations for someone who would be able to help.

Thanks in advance

Assuming that the car also needs to be at both circuits couldn't you just tag along with that, or is that far too simple ?

That's a trip of about 260 Miles by road so I wouldn't have thought that was going to be possible even at 70MPH Average, much less with a Race Car in tow!

Hence his posting here, looking for Heli hire or some other means of transport!

Spru!

937carrera,

There are plenty of helicopter charter companies who could do the job. (I have taken drivers to the Carrera Cup myself in the past.)

I can suggest a number of companies via PM, if you would like.

And FYI, asking in the private flyers forum might not be the best idea. Any private pilot who accepts payment for the flight will effectively be breaking the law.

So how is the car getting to both meets? Is our intrepid racer driving a different cat at both events?

Serves you right for driving in a souped-up Beetle!
Get your name down for the new Ginetta G50
Not very useful I know - flew into croft yesterday - G50 testing/shakedown etc (I stuck to the flying - driving looked far too much fun)
As mentioned - your only option is to contact a heli operator - now if you found one that also has a growing automotive/race company within their group.......

could be worse.......could have been Pembrey!

Try someone like

http://www.centrelineair.co.uk/aircraft_airtaxi.htm

http://www.aircharterserviceplc.com/index.htm

http://www.oxfordairport.co.uk/services/charter.htm

but these are going to cost......... try phoning your nearest airfield to the first event asking if there is someone can hire you a flight..........

YOU NEED AN AOC OPERATION ( I E have an air operators certificate) failing that you could legally fly with someone if you just paid a share of the cost.. but that is getting into dodgy territory

You may just find the LNT's Dauphin may be sitting there, see if they can sort you out. The LNT...T is not bad.

Thanks for all the replys so far guys, some responses:

I like the type3 helicopter - did it work ?

Only me needs to be transported - two cars at two different circuits, both alreadly in the right place, I'm currently at Brands & will drive to Croft tomorrow evening.

LNT's Dauphin - sorry I'm being thick I don't understand the reference

G50 - Sorry don't know much about Ginettas (though a few mates have raced them)

AOC rules - thanks for the info, i didn't know that.

Bravo73 ( & anyone else), yes please send me details by PM - I'm going to connect occasionally by mobile phone

Cheers

David
