Jimball,
I think 4ft was referring to post number 98 which has subsequently been removed, from a guy asking if Iainms was talking about Newcastle in Austrailia..........hence the long trek comment.

don't be suckered into using the heliport. Not suitable for singles really as its an overwater approach and departure. Tricky to get into, using a steep approach. Not to say many singles haven't been in there but believe me, you could go to Linden Hall hotel just outside to the North (10-15mins) and free landings. No more than half hour drive to St.James. Great country location. Great Hotel.
For what the airport will charge you, this way would probably work out cheaper.

When the football is on I'd avoid a 'drive' into Newcastle at all costs! It can be a nightmare.
You can get the Metro in all the way to James' Park/Haymarket from the airport and Samson will probably drop you at the Metro if you let them know (there are two stations at the Airport - one at the terminal and one not far from the Southside Aviation).
The City Heliport is well sited for James Park. Not overly suited to Public Transport - 5 to 10 minute walk or a very short taxi hop been practically on the edge of the city centre (5 mins from station) If you do go in the only real approach is from West/South West along the River so bear that in mind for wind. Its roughly a 3 acre site right next some big Gasometers which stand out well - a quick look on Googleearth will give you a heads up. In any case - Martin at Eagle Helicopters will want to brief you prior to arrival. Depending on your experience level you may want to keep the R44 fairly light to give you a good margin.
I cant comment on the Hotel as I don't know it.
Enjoy the game!
'Big Sam' used the heliport when he first joined Newcastle. Owen also uses the Heliport.

www.burythorpehouse.co.uk Old country Gents res with about 12 rooms near York. Best food in Yorkshire without a doubt and you can land right next to it with no charge. Great pub . Bay Horse, 300 yard walk away.
Mention pprune and they give you a discount !!

One of the best excuses I've ever heard today for a hotel charging a landing fee.
When pressed on why we get charged and yet the car park users don't, 'Because of the disturbance it causes' she says. To who ? I ask.
Girl goes off to find someone who knows and apparently its to pay the local farmer to move his cows. Where to I ask I don't know says the girl !
The boss wants to go there anyway so I will find out just where the cows normally are, but flashearth shows the nearest fields about 1/4 mile at the closest.
Perhaps I am just getting even more cranky as I get older.
Anyway Hartwell House Aylesbury. £50 whether you are a guest or not.

Stoke / Keele area landing sites
Hi, does anyone know of a good landing site for an R44 in the Stoke / Keele area? I know there is a landing pad at Crewe Hall Hotel, but if there is anywhere suitable closer that would be great.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Need Landing site near Barnsley
I'd be very grateful if anyone could chip in with info about any potential landing sites / contact names for landing sites in the Barnsley area (ideally to the north east)
It's not for commercial use so i won't be pinching anyones charter customers.
Many Thanks

Loads. Depends where you want to go, but can recommend The Onslow Arms east of Guildford. Easy approach, and part of the car park is nicely signed "Helicopters only". Sensibly priced food in a nice old pub.
Milton Keynes helipad
Anybody have any contact details for helipads near MK? There seems to be a few, but I can't track down contact nos.
I've got a meeting near M1 J14 tomorrow!
Thanks
