Fixed wing experience: how much does it count?

Hi Guys,

Since child fascinating by helicopter, but life took me on fixed wing....

I am 35, on aeroplane TT 2000 with 1500 on jet, some firefighting experience.....

Thinking to get Helicopter Cpl: do you think my experience will be in some way recognized by operator when I will look for a job or I will be quite similar to a fresh rated one?

Sujjestions?

Thank to all

Usually it's only rotary time that counts. It didn't help me in anyway.

Angel

Think of it as a car driver applying for a motorcyclist's job.

Given two applicants, both with identical RW time/experience, and one with a good FW background, the FW guy will win virtually every time. Airmanship is airmanship.

Any additional FW time is a bonus, yes.

But, given a 2000 hr FW pilot and a barely dry new CPLH over a 2000 hr RW man? I doubt that would work in many cases.

Mind you, I heard Gulfstream did it the other way, with a certain helicopter pilot......
