Canadian AME to Australian AME

Hi guys I am writing this on behalf of a friend.....does anyone know what the requirments for a licensed heli engineer with 500 and Astar plus engines on both to be able to work in OZ on australian machines and convert these over,

I'm not exactly sure but going to Canada from here you have to do the whole lot again, and those expensive ratings gained here are not recognised either..... And Canada wonders why there is a major shortage of licensed guys there.
I have a contact for a school in Brisbane that specialises in conversions, licences and ratings for engineers and he will know exactly what needs to be done and what it will cost.
