Which is best IREX Book

G'day all,
I'm looking to do my IREX (studying from home - Australia) and am wondering if anybody can give advice on the better of these 2 books:
Instrument Rating Study Guide
Bob Tait

Instrument Rating Study Guide
Aviation Theory Centre

Also whether there are any other options and books that may be beneficial ?
Thanks in advance, constructive comments preferable thanks all.
Regards
Loachster

As far as I can remember, they are both good. So if you can your hands on either or both go for it. Read and study both if you can (it will only enhance the learning).
Look on the CASA website and see if you can download the sylabus and any sample questions.
Get your highlighter and post-it notes ready and as you go through the questions start highlighting and posting (all legal as far as I remember as long as you don't write anything in the CAO's etc).
Good luck and let persistance be your friend!

Agreed with 800.

get both books. taitys book is. i found the basis for the best results. while the Aviation centre one covers the same with extra stuff in detail that bob does not cover. both are invaluble in getting the best results first time.

i did my IREX with bob himself at his archerfield school. what a legend! the exam is the hardest of all exams to do and with both books on hand i passed first go.

study tips.

read bobs first then cross reference with the other. I found this to be best for me.

Good Luck and study hard

Loachboy: make sure you get the current books as the reference numbers to the AIP, CAO etc are different if you use backdated copies.
Good luck

Hi, good luck with the home study, I just recently did the same. I can only comment on the Bob Tait book which I found invaluable, and covered everything in the syllabus in a logical and informative way, especially for someone like myself with no prior knowledge on the topic but managing to pass first time
Also agree with cougar77, make sure you get the most recent book, as he updates it a few times each year to keep up with all the changes. Try and avoid buying someone elses book as the exercises will all be done and there's nothing more confusing than someone elses notes.
Only extra advice is to purchase the online practise exams that Bob has produced for IREX, available through his school and also A.F.T, thye're as close to the real exam as you can get, and a great indicator as to how prepared you are.
And finally, read the questions...............at least 3 times, it's CASA!

IREX books

Hey hey,

I'm going to start studying for the IREX and I currently have the 08 edition of Bob Tait. Is there a more recent version out at the moment or is this the latest? Also can anyone recommend any other publications that would be better for rotary IREX?

Thanks
