I don't think the person in question has that type rating.

FAA type ratings
The FAA do have type ratings, based on MAUW, and additionally an examiner has to be approved by the FAA to conduct a check flight in any normal category aircraft type.
So saying there are no type ratings under FAA, particularly with regards to an examiner ain't exactly so

The FAA has an interesting little twist on type ratings for helicopters. The PIC for Helicopters over 12,500 pounds GTOW require a type rating. However, holders of Helicopter ATP's may get type ratings in helicopters with a GTOW of less than 12,500 pounds.

wiisp,
Just noticed - that phone number you gave for AH is out of date, by almost two years.

FAA Examiners
You might try looking on the FAA webpage www.faa.gov and also message them via the web page.
There used to be an examiner in Germany and written exams could be taken there as well. (of course that was when Emilea and I were dating)
The chances of the examiner having this type is slim to nil, and as a footnote a person who makes an application for an initial ATP will have the aircraft that the flight check is taken in placed on his certificate as a type regardless of it's AUW. (The other writer is correct that normally only aircraft above 12,500lbs is placed on a certificate as a type.)
The best of luck to you.
