Chopper pilot in lucky escape

By 7News A Brisbane pilot is glad to be back on terra firma after he was forced to ditch his helicopter in Moreton Bay this afternoon.

Holidaymakers at Tangalooma Resort were shocked to see the Bell-47 chopper crash in 20m of water near the divers' wrecks around midday.
Simon Davies was the only person on board and he was returning from a maintenance trip to Brisbane when the engine failed.
His boss, John Given from Moreton Island Helicopters, said it was a fortunate escape.
"In relation to helicopter crashes there could not be a better result than this," he said. Simon suffered only minor injuries and Mr Given is confident the experienced instructor will be flying again soon.
