Tax Write Off Question

I was wondering if anyone out there has any advice on writing off flight school tuition. I have been told by the IRS that my flight school is not considered an educational institution, because you can not get a FAFSA loan through the Dept. of Education...like you would at a university. I have my CFI and working towards my CFII. I know that I could write off my CFI and CFII as a working flight instructor because it "furthers your career" Unfortunately I received my CFI in 2007 as well as employment(CFI). But can I write off my training prior to CFI as an educational expense or a "furthering of career"...?

Thanks
