US State Department Component Export Licenses
I'm just wondering if anyone else has any problems with this process especially with regard to the laser gyro card contained in the:
King KRG-333
L3 GH-3000
(as examples)
I am particularly interested in Civilian operator's experiences, how and if you achieved the export certificate and any problems along the way.
This case would relate to a private helicopter to be based in the UK
Thanks

ONe thing to remember is that under ITAR only a US company or individual can export Munition List items . The licence has to be obtained by the exporter and as the buyer all you can do is wait for the wheels to turn. YOu should plan on an mimimum of 60 days for the exporter to obtain a licence . If the item has been deemed dual use by the department of state the process should be easier. US companies are very wary of possible contraventions of ITAR as the financial penalties are severe.

Bell 212 AFCS Amplifiers and Synchronizer 'slices'. Basically a component that consists of standard electronic components and a small rate gyro.
These units appeared on the State Depts Contolled Exports list last year and now average approx 6 months delivery time from Bell, including return after repair, of which only Bell are approved to do.
You can still buy surplus/SV units from various suppliers outside the USA, but price has sky rocketed as a result.
Good if you are selling, bad if you are buying
