RC flying with video camera linked to pilot's head movements
Remote controlled flying with an onboard video camera, which is gyro controlled by pilot's head movements.

hey dave.
i sure the military already use this in some form or another. ive seen it in a doco. interesting though. any model builder putting that in their plane could use the cashola to get a proper license. they would even have change to spare. would make a bit more sense you would think.
great vid none the less.

in that case put the headset on those who dont like real aircraft and do aerobatics with the model, hopefully the ensuing disorientation and reactions would be a hoot.

Amazing. I did notice that the RC heli had hiller paddles on a 2-blade rigid head, to make a very stable control system. It did make me wonder about lack of acceleration feedback to "backside" (although probably a good thing the 2P vibration couldn't be fed-back). I guess all motionless simulators have this problem, and they still seem to work. Seeing the R22 hover after several minutes total flight is truly incredible - one assumes the student has control of pedals and collective too, since the instructor waves at one point.
Imagine gyro vision system on the heli-chair. Really cost effective way to learn...

Heli-Ice,
There is a new [Comments] link on the right hand side and it appears to have some information related to the project and equipment.
