Blues for Air Ambulances
As a London low-level air trafficker I weary of the all-too-frequent complaints from unenlightened persons on the ground regarding bona-fide low-level helicopter activity by the emergency services. (How the complaints get routed through to ATC is anybody's guess.....) Would it not be possible for emergency service helicopters to display flashing 'blues' to facilitate identification at least when on a Category Alpha response? Then instead of making complaints about low flying helicopters when it is an air ambulance searching for a landing sight perhaps those persons on the ground may be a little more tolerant, as they most likely would with emergency service vehicles on the ground. Pros and Cons? Are 'blues' displayed anywhere else in the world?

It might be better to get a voicemail message on your phone, saying it isn't your business.
The alternative would be to have the ES heles fitted with Blues and Twos. Of course, the Twos would need to be VERY loud to be heard over the noise of the engines

Although the idea isn't too bad, I believe that the complaint rate won't change much except people will nag about a helicopter with a blue flashing light flying the roof of their houses.
