Landing Sites

A few months ago i posted a link to a landingsites page i'd been working on.

A few of you commented on what you'd like to see improved.

http://www.griffin-helicopters.co.uk...ngsitelist.asp

Heres another link to the same list, with an intermediate page now of details before linking direct to the landing sites web site.

Phone no.s and contacts are omitted at the moment as the database doesn't have that many in it.

Improvements to follow in the next few days, when I've done the videos list being discussed in another thread.

Any comments gratefully received.

V.

From what I remember re my comments last time, this seems much better, with info that a pilot would like rather than links to commercial sites.

Spelling Corrected.

The Lake helipad is a little more complicated, its a problem with how one of the databases stores helipads, hope to solve that this afternoon.
Now Done, as are all the others with a (H) in the name.

A map is possible but gets very cluttered, or too big to use because there are so many thing to plot on it, however will do a google maps overview to seewhat you think.

The county list will probably be redundant i think once i've linked a search to the list which will be driven from the gazeteer http://www.griffin-helicopters.co.uk/gazeteer.asp, so will be able to find nearest sites by village name.
If you still think it necessary after that then it can be done.

Cheers

Good resource. You could put up a submissions page so people could add to it sharewarestyle.

I'd like to be able to search by county - if it were a beautiful day, and I fancied flying off somewhere, it would be nice to just go 'show me stuff here', rather than have to look for likely villages to search for. Alternately, you could just add the option to show the main list(s) subdivided into counties.

Johe02, I can thoroughly recommend Lake. The Lomas guys really looked after me when I stopped in for fuel. The second time was after a weather diversion and they couldn't do enough to help.

I have always promised Mrs. Johned that I would take her back to sample the delights of Bideford. It looks a v. pretty town from the air and Mrs JE thinks the fact that there is nothing to do there would force me to take a break from my computer - PPRUNEing

Cheers,

John

The Map is done as a beta version at http://www.griffin-helicopters.co.uk/landingsitemap.asp

Will probably color code the sites by airfield, mil airfield, helipad or something like that.

The County list is being done later (tomorrow).

The landing site list has now got a further 300 sites in http://www.griffin-helicopters.co.uk...ngsitelist.asp

Any further suggestions ?
