Helicopter pilots caught up in drug bust

Rumour has it that a number of North Queensland helicopter pilots have been caught up in a drug bust involving multiple cattle properties and a large ammount of people.

Over one hundred people are under investigation or have been charged with offences related to many hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of dope.

The rumour also has it that one of the pilots arrested and charged has led the police to other pilots in the area as well as property owners or managers.

The investigation has apparently been going on for about three years and will culminate over the next couple of weeks with the arrest of a lot more people.

A few local identities have been mentioned.

Rumours have been flying about for quite a while but now it seems we are at the pointy end of the stick. Watch this space.

Been a few chopper pilots in the NT busted for supporting drug plantations over the years. Choppers can get the gear in and out of the hidden spots much easier than cars. The police busted a major cannabis ring up here several years ago and nabbed the pilot. He had GPS in the chopper filled with the locations of all the adjacent crops. The finacial rewards would outweigh the risks for a lot of these guys.

It isn't a rumour is has definitely happened but I beleive many of the Pilots (3 or 4) are also the property owners or working full time for same, that is to say not brought in externally but part of the loop.

One of the pilots, and there are six at the moment took the police to an abandoned gold mine and handed over a quarter of a million in cash and the same in gold. Then rolled over. There are a lot of worried people up North at the moment waiting to see who gets nabbed next.

It is turning into quite a large exercise as people try to protect themselves by pointing the finger at others. So the net spreads.

The pilot in the Territory went to jail for rape as well as drug offences. He was an AOC holder and operated helicopters out of Darwin Harbour.

illegal drug trade is 2nd only to the illegal fire arms trade, no it is not permissable, but it doesn't immediately effect and scar life's (apart from addicts, overdoses, these are people's choices. .etc) but when you know people who have gone through a rape and how it effects there everyday life.... you'd make the same comment...

Cheap Robbies

If the police confiscate the helicopters under the various legislation, there might be some cheap Robbies being sold off at auction soon.
Just remember to do a REALLY good daily. Check under the seats for anything that might have fallen out of a pocket, or left behind...
