if that was the uk the pilot would be on charges for rule 5 ,endagerment and every thing else the caa would have a field day

Yes, you do. That flight is in a restricted area and operated at 2500 feet normally (3000 back) and the route is specifically chosen to have open areas like that. It's actually about as precise as instrument flying.

better safe than sorry

This makes me glad. A pilot that's safety minded, better safe than sorry. And a police report and company that appricates his attitude. We read so much about pilots that make bad, unresponsible decisions all the time, I want more like this instead.

What's "Rule 5"... for EVERYBODY who know nothing about the CAA and your rules out there???



Just think the right thing was done and the outcome was positive... what else can you ask for???

Galapagos - Rule 5 is low flying (not below 500 feet, etc). It's the ICAO stuff as modified and placed into the Air Navigation order.
