without dubious speculation - does it look like the tail was dug in during the flare, or does it look like a MR boom strike ?

Read somewhere it was a "firm" landing following an engine failure of some sort. Landing with the furrows/road would be a bit smoother than cross grain I think.

Is this now number four for the month in Hawaii?

This lycoming engine mounted on the D version is really a bad choice.

Lycoming engine?

The cowls on that bird are covering an Allison C30.

An even worse engine choice.

Looks like everyone walked away. That makes it OK in my book....Good One.
For those of you who go out to the airports and do those neat touchdowns on the numbers everytime, there is a difference when the thing quits unexpectedly.

Another write off = another sale = another increase in insurance premiums.
Glad there were no report of casualties.

Question - Is there something about Hawaii that makes these incidents happen? The Bermuda triangle of helicopters!

Good Point Nick, not that it would have made a difference. That Heli-USA crash is still up in the air as to what difference it would have made there. My opinion was that more may have survived.......
I also detect a little something in your tone on that one. Did you agree or disagree on the pop-out issue?
