PAS Proposed Redundancies

Police Aviation Services LTD anounced on 10th May that a number of redundancies are necessary amongst its pilot workforce. Regionalisation of Floating Pilots and changes in sickness relief pilot status are blamed for the cut-backs. At least two redundancies are on the cards with the Floating Pilots looking favourite to cop it.

Sad thing is with PAS - Since Bombardier took over and now RDM the amount of non-revenue earners (pencil pushers) has risen enormously! The revenue earners (pilots) have been badly managed and are now suffering for it. If PAS wants to save money then look at its management and support staff!!

Unfortunately any expansion often seems to breed 'shiny asses', it is a fact of life. RDM, though have given PAS a much looser rein than Bombardier and for them police aviation might just as well been a tin of baked beans, as long as it made a profit. Any expansion often leads to employees becoming a number rather than an individual. It will be a shame if PAS goes that way as previously it was one of its strenghs as well as flexibility.

Currently PAS are looking for one floater to jump ship. One has gone allready. Apart from Macs who else is looking for Police/Air Ambulance pilots? Any news on the proposed Yorkshire/Teesside Air Ambulance? I believe Bond and theAA are trying to sew this one up.
