What is the final outcome of the New Tiltrotor?

Well, is the new tilt rotors going to take our jobs away or is there still room for we few REAL chopper pilots left?
What do you guys think?

Does any one have anything to say about these machines that might have us all coverting?
Personally Im a little afriad that instead of getting to fly rotor im going to have to embark on the horrible journey of fixed wing, euhhh, that would suck. Also what if the rotors didn't tilt back when you going back into helo mode, there would be no way to land because the rotor blades hang down below the belly of the plane? Come on give me a break. CC, Good morning( well it is here in the UK)
I am not much of a gambling man, but I would bet that the actual deployment of TiltrotorA/C/Heli is 20 years from service in every day flying, might be quicker with the Military( they have the funds and the bodies to test the thing flys correctly) I would think also they will never be deployed into Civilian Training Orgs

Be interesting to see what the insurance rates for this will be . I think the second generation will be the ones who make the money .
Is the infrastructure in place to take advantage of the promised benefits ?. They claim single engine fly away capability , can it really hover on one engine with full load , if so that is really impressive ?.
You can always tell the pioneers from the arrows sticking in their backs.

Thanks for your guys's input, I still hope that you're right. I see a few flaws with the design my self. But who is to tell what the future holds, they didn't expect that choppers would get this far and now the dominate the working industry. I do think its a good idea (the V-22) but I hope it doesn't replace us. We could be the last of a dying breed. Oh well, airline pay is looking pretty good anyways

I think the Tilt Rotor is going to be the domain of the Rotary Wing pilot. The fixed wing guys are going to look at it and see a Turbo Prop aeroplane and though it may be fast for a Heli it ain't a jet.

I think the Helicopter is in no danger of being replaced in the near future as the Tilt Rotor is very expensive, small and un-proven.
There will be markets that may open up because of the Tilt Rotor i.e.off-shore oil fields that are beyond the range of the current Rotorcraft fleet.
Airports require a lot of land and eventually as real estate becomes a premium as in the North East U.S.A , Japan, Europe they may find a niche as a regional feeder if they can be built to carry 30+ passengers.

I guess time will judge.
