Instead, Thomas Bruno encountered a dirty rendezvous of a different kind.
The 49-year-old Delaware man got lost and found himself stuck in muddy terrain.
By the time rescue workers found him, he was already up to his waist in mud and a helicopter had to be called in to pull him out.
And to add insult to injury, the police are now charging him with falsely reporting an incident, trespassing, criminal solicitation and patronising a prostitute.
According to The (Wilmington) News Journal, Bruno met a male prostitute in a bar on Sunday night and agreed to pay for sex with him near a waste-water treatment plant.
But the two got into an argument, and the prostitute left without having sex.
Deciding the leave the unfamiliar marshy area on foot, it wasn't long before Bruno got hopelessly lost.
At about 4am, Bruno called emergency officials on his handphone, but was so disoriented that he could not provide an accurate description of his whereabouts.
He then lost his connection with the authorities, making his rescue even more difficult.
Rescue workers who were dispatched to the area managed to track him down after four hours using night-vision goggles to find his car, then following his footprints for about 3km.
When they found him, he was stuck in mud up to his waist.
A state police helicopter had to be called in to hoist him up from the mud in a harness.
With Bruno dangling under its belly, the helicopter took him on a 3km-ride to a waiting ambulance, which then sent him to the Beebe Medical Center for observation.
Bruno, who was not seriously hurt, later told police he had simply driven off the road and became stranded in a field, Delaware State Police Cpl Jeff Oldham said.
When questioned further, he changed his story and accused the prostitute of stealing his money before admitting to giving the man about US$150 ($255) for sex.
Cpl Oldham said that Bruno could have died if he had not been pulled form the mud in time.
