C- G Calculator

Hi There !!!!!
I was wondering if there is somethimg like a quik C of G calculator!
I'm reding a book from Shawn Coyle at the moment called The art and sience of flying helicopters and in the section weight and Balance is such a quik C of G calculator,but I don't have a clue how to read it.
Some one knows this book?or any other suggestions to calculate C of G in a quik way?without having to calculate everithing like we learned in school.
I think that for low time pilots working in the bush or other places the first times it would be a grate help heaving such a thing.

We have software that will help, however, the operator will have to input ALL the pertinent moment arms and weights for that particular helo for it to work accurately. Once it is up and running tho' it will work very well.

In the school I learned, we got such a program
for the 206 .You have still to multiply the ´weights with the arms to get the moments if I remember right.I was thinking of something that you look at it and you know so many pasangers I can take so much bagage and so much fuel without beeing out of c of g .and not having to much weight.

Tell him that I'm heaving lot's of fun reading his book.The calculator in the book consists of one fixed part and one moving part.

Robsibk – Was it for the 206 specifically? I have a few self-programmed CogG calculators for the 206, 206L, 341, 350, 355, 135 etc, plus a few extras like fuel, performance that sort of thing. They are an absolute doddle to do in excel. I can send you the 206L one if you want it, (if I can find it!)just to see how it works.

If you or someone you know, is familiar with microsofts' Excel program, you can make your own. Just put your weights in the correct boxes and the CG position is displayed for you. It's not an easy thing to do but I'm sure well worth it especially if you are doing them everyday with big machinery.

The one I made for the B206 and 206L (&L-1), not only gives you a landing and T/O CofG but plot it on the chart aswell.
Likewise, all the fuel figures/gates are incorporated so you are reminded of the parameters etc.
The program prints off a 'kneepad' and is linked to other stuff like Silverstone kneepads.....blah blah

It's pretty easy to do but it can be a bit tricky when you have fuel loads that change the CofG as the are used. A lot of the programmes that I have seen have static CofG positions that are picked off of a graph whereas mine are completey dynamic ie: it doesn't matter what your fuel state is - you get the correct arm/moment. This basically replicates the POL/REC function as found on some calculators - I can give anybody who wants it the basic module.
