Wayne's apologist said, "Wayne knew that if he took a few years off for military service, there was a good chance that by the time he got back he'd be over the hill."
Isn't that too, too bad? He wrote his draft board the Monday after Pearl Harbor, and he ducked. Like Sylvester Stallone, who spent Vietnam as a Gym Teacher in Switzerland, it is a quirk of the American personality to help the hypocrits celebrate their heroics on the screen while they hid when needed.
All the above does not help me with Ermey. Ermey served in combat honorably, and I was way too rough on him. Had he been Army, I'd be proud of him, loud voice and all. Point scored, You win, SASless!

Nick,
Looking at his marksmanship badges....I understand why he uses grapeshot in civil war cannon when he shoots watermelons.
Word of caution....you live in a very "Green" neighborhood down there.....one never knows who might be easedropping on the forum here! You might step on yer shoe laces on the way home from the VFW lodge one night....you know how those Jarheads can be...rather clannish folk, they!

PJ's
I have visited one of the PJ's bases in the states for one month and trained with them on various training sorties, when I was a military crewman. and seen them in action overseas in Bosnia. When I was serving as a medic and some of there treatment was top class.
As a sarmanontheline I think these guys are certainly the best and most professional CSAR outfit in the world, and very highly trained in all there sometimes mad activitys.
There training is more intence than any special forces in the world and they do it all THAT OTHERS MAY LIVE..
There complete attitude and dedication is unreal, if only some civi SAR crewmen had half of there dedication our water's and mountains would be alot safer.
Keep up the good work lads, And if you feel yourself getting burnt out make the jump to civi street SAR and enjoy the benifits as well as the job.
