Arrow Bristow pilots

As it is you chaps that strap the helicopters to your backsides you might like to take a look at "Engineers and Technicians - Continuation Training".

Continuation training is a CAA requirement to keep engineers up to date on the aircraft that they work on. Your aircraft.

As BHL engineeers do not carry out engine ground runs on the aircraft (AFAIK), then there would be no need to have simulator sessions.

Can't comment on whether there is a requirement for other engineering tasks, though.

How proficient would you feel as a pilot if the continuation training you got was "there's been an amendment to the flight manual, be a good chap and read it" followed by absolutely no base or line checks where you can demonstrate your competence?
That's pretty much what your average engineer gets in most (but not all)of the Companies I've seen.
Draw your own conclusions... <img src="frown.gif" border="0">

Actually, with the numerous changes there are to Flight Manuals, it probably happens more than you think. It's why we are professional pilots that we read them and take note of them.

We may be tested on them, but there is so much that we cannot be tested on everything on a short two day base check. If we were, we would never fly the line as we would spend all year being checked.

Common sense has to prevail somewhere.
