Post In a pickle

Anyone know the origin of the term 'to pickle', as in 'the load got an uncontrollable swing up, so I pickled it.'?

Thumbs down

To: Arm out the window

During WW2 the bombardiers (bomb aimers) released their bombs by pressing a switch. The body of the switch was shaped somewhat like a pickle. The actual switch was contained at the end of the “Pickle” and the switch was depressed with the thumb.

Thanks, Lu.

I'm developing the theory that you're not actually a human being, but a super-computer!
Is this true?!
