The Accident happened near Innisfail early this morning.
It was a jet ranger spraying Bananas and as you said it hit a wire.
The Pilot has broken both legs (ankles actually i think) but nothing life threating. It's going to be a real pain in the arse for him to get to the pub for a while.
The machine was destroye by fire so sound like he is very fortunate really.
If the hospital will fit a XXXX intravenous drip on him quickly he will be fine. SS loves a pint or three.

steve was quite lucky if you can be lucky hitting a wire.

he hit the ground quite close to an ambulance officers house and was treated almost immediately and taken to babinda hospital then on to cairns.

he was thrown from the bell 206 on impact and suffered second degree burns near his right arm as the aircraft was burning, lucky he wasn't in it.

he has undergone a 6 hour operation, (one of many to come), from midnight last night on a broken left leg, boken left knee and smashed left ankle. his right leg was broken in two places and his right ankle is broken. lots of nuts and bolts i bet.

his father has flown up to cairns to be with him.

steve is an excellent pilot and instructor who has has accumulated many hours mustering, training and spraying. he started his own spraying company in far north queensland about five years ago. he has agood constitution and great sense of humour and i know that he will heal up and be back in the air.

more good luck with it all mate. i am sure some one will drop in a slab.
