Question 285 mph chopper

In todays mail on sunday "Live" supplement, there is an article about michael owen and what he spends his un deserved salary on.
Apparently he has one of these:
The £2million eurocopter dauphin flies at 285mph
Call me a thick fixed wing pilot but surely they don't go that fast!!!
Owen says
There seem to be a million dials and switches, but I reckon it's not as complicated as it looks.
Whatever you say sonny!!!
I'm sure one of you helicopter types will have something to say on it,and if possible could someone come up with a more realistic cruise speed,I would have thought 150 kts would be nearer the mark, its looks pretty big

You are quite right it should read 285 km/h and not mph which roughly equates to 150 kts.

That's not the helicopter. He was referring to Sven's new Casio TeamSelecta handheld being delivered in time for the 06 World Cup.

Dauphine Perfomance

My guess is there was a sl;ip of the tongue with regard the speed you heard for the Dauphine. The cruise speed you said you heard was in MPH, but I would say it should have been KPH. A speed of 285 KPH is equal to 150 Knots.

If you are really interested in the performance of this machine try this link:

Cheers for now.

To be a nine seater, it would have to be either a 365 or 155.

Not for 2 million, he hasn't! Sounds like a second hand N2
