Taliban officials building "heavy helicopter capability"

Taliban aviaton commanders have announced that they are actively building a heavylift helicopter capability to move personell and equipment around the area.
Commander Ariff Moammar yesterday outlined the latest development in the build up of capacity within the country; "After considerable deliberation, we have elected to procure the infidel Boeing CH-47 Chinook. This is a grass roots effort by the Taliban and we are going to build these helicopters, literally, from the ground up. We have already obtained most of the landing gears for this helicopter and anticipate procuring the remaining parts on e-bay within the next 30 days (subject to meeting reserve price and the check clearing.)"
The announcement that the Taliban had already procured landing gear parts for the CH-47 was initially met with some scepticism within Washington, however a source admitted yesterday that "it appeared the Taliban had acquired some parts for the CH-47, but this was in no way indicative that they had the capability to create a Chinook from scratch. There are a collosal number of bits and pieces within that helicopter, little whirly bits, twiddly things, the bits that make all the noise and gauges and such like - I'm not sure they know what they are undertaking!"
Mullah Mohammed Omar stated in a press release yesterday that "Our landing gear trials are at an advanced stage. They have already been installed on a test cart and the donkey is pulling it very fast on the road from Kandahar to a secret cave, heavily loaded with my furniture. The state of Afghan roads will ensure that any equipment that passes these punishing trials will be more than adequate for use on the Talinook, our new helicopter".
The Taliban are believed to have already proven their helicopter manufacturing skills, by the production of a large fleet of Mini 500 homebuilt helicopters. The status of that fleet however, is subject to some debate, due to rumors of difficulty in maintaining them in an operational condition.
In a later report from within Afghanistan, internal sources said they believed that the initial reports that they were being used for a new helicopter were false. "As we understand it, the tires from this helicopter are the same size as a Toyota truck, and these tires were installed on "Four-wheel One", the personal vehicle of Omar Muhammed which needed new tires."
