Yet another one flies forever. another accident in Mexico

A bell 206B, reported missing on November 1st. He was flying a route from Mexico D.F towards San Luis Potosi. the weather at both ends was reported moderate with isolated thunderstorms and low clounds... He called with his cell phone home 40 miles out of San Luis (MMSP), to tell the dispatcher he was 40 miles out, and that he will be landing at san luis for fuel. The dispatcher was waiting for him for a flight on Monterrey Mexico later that day. Monterrey was his final destination.

Later when he was due to San Luis according to his flight plan, he was reported missing. the authorities started the search, but then got distracted, because the police reported the helicopter found near Queretaro (around 40 to 70 miles out of Mexico D.F), but the police report was not accurate.

So night fell.

On the 2nd (today), one of the search helicopter (XA-TUS), followed another police lead to another site. This time the helicopter was found burned, and impacted into the mountains.

It was an ugly scene. The pilot was burned badly and the forensics diagnosed he got killed on impact.

Talking to local people, they said that at the time of the accident, there was a lot of fog and haze, and rain in that area. In mexico we don't have doplers almost anywhere, and the only reports weather wise are expired metars and innacurate tafs... Althought the weather was moderate at the destination, there was just no way to tell the weather was that bad in those areas. He impacted into a mountain.

There is just no way at this point to tell what happen, but the buz is that the weather did the dirty work.....

He knew the route well, he had done it at least 10 times before.

The machine that he was flying was maintain very very well, and i had the fortune to flown it just 2 weeks before for some trainning.

The pilot was a good friend of mine, and it also happened to be one of my teachers.

I am really sad, and i trully feel for the family he left behind.

Be carefull.

I am out of town and I read this my heart almost stopped, XA-TUS is flown by a friend of mine! I immediately got on the phone and made some calls, fortunately Bell 407 XA-TUS is fine.

The aircraft that suffered this unfortunatel accident was XA-LUM a Bell 206 JR operated by Transpais Aereo which I am told is part of the ASESA PROTEXA group.

All information is being tightly kept for unknown circumstances.

My Condolences to all Involved.

Sorry

Sorry Blender Pilot.. XA-TUS, is the SEARCH helicopter not the accidented Helicopter.

They kindley helped us with the search.

I am one of the owners of Asesa-Protexa Group.

There is no big secret or anything, he did a CFT, it was very bad...

I am very sad this had to happen.

Sorry for the Scare Blender.

Thanks for all the condolences but the families are the ones who need this the most..

This is definitely THE down side of aviation.

Sh!t. Its almost impossible to think, that the show most continue. But im feeling a notch better today.

Pilot

Cap. Luis Alberto Pacheco Boix
1961 - 2005
Rest in Peace.

The aircraft was a XA-LUM, 1980 Bell 206 B III, in very good shape, but we will never know what really happened.

Kiko,

Sorry to hear it was one of yours. Sorry to hear about Pacheco Boix, knew him only briefly.

Was he the one involved in the stolen Dauphin with the fake arqueologists that turned out to be exotic dancers? (or something like that?)

Helicos,

Que onda chamaco? No extrañas a los Helivanes? Mandame mas fotos de esas de color de rosa!

We are really sad about the accident. He was one of my mentors and its hard to think that weather took him away when he was very very insistive on helicopters (of this size and instruments) not flying in those conditions, but as i said.. The truth will never be known since he took it to the grave.

For everyone passing on condolences, i will make sure the family knows.

Ohh, and yes Blender, he was the pilot in the stolen Dauphine.

Ohh, Blender another thing.......

Please tell your friend, the pilot of XA-TUS, that i am very thankful for all his help in all this. Tell him that i would like to talk to him to say it in person. He was an amazing help in all this, and we really owe him one.
