balpa to sink or swim?
I feel the time is now for balpa to sink or swim. Should the association fail to deliver the back up the cc's. needs to achieve an acceptable pay deal this time then they should be shown the road. I feel its time to either put up or push off.

I'm sorry sticker, what are you trying to say? Your second sentence just doesn't make sense to me. But yes I agree, if BALPA don't get it right this time we will have missed the boat completely.
As long as we give the CC a mandate in the forthcoming ballot, I don't see how we can fail. As has been said in previous topics, we need to inform the CC either in writing or verbally at meetings to make sure they really do represent the work force feelings.

BALPA is everyone who is a member, that includes you (if you are a member), the CC and obviously the people at New Road.
The latter assist with their negotiators by guiding the CCs and the members through the legal turmoils of negotiations and other bits and pieces that go on to try and improve the life of the poor old pilot workforces in all the UK operators where they are recognised.
At the end of the day, it is the membership of the company that you work for that dictates what goes on. New Road is not to blame, only the members themselves.
Any vote that a member makes in the end is because of his (or her)own personal circumstances and views, and it will not necessarily be those of yours.

I am confused over!
Today our BALPA CC deputy chairman informed us that any non returned ballot forms from our present dispute will be counted as a yes vote, ie accepting the pay rise. This just seems totally rediculous to me. For any industrial legal types out there, is this correct? Furthermore, he also informed us that he had faxed out this information to all the bazaars several weeks ago. Well we didn't get this information did anyone else? Finally, his CC colleague who was present at a later meeting informed us that non returned ballot papers would not be counted as a yes vote. What is going on over!

I would have thought that any non-returned ballot papers can only be counted as "Abstentions", i.e. they are not bothered either way. I would say, though, that they cannot be confirmed as accepting any ballot, but then again, they cannot be accepted as rejecting it either.
I would suggest that you can only take the vote from those that return their ballot papers. Anything other way of counting only falsifies the result as I see it.
