Well I can not say for sure though I have seen similar contraptions....

There's a company in the UK that builds something similar: http://www.simcontrol.co.uk/newheli.htm

They supply them to the RAF's helicopter training school. They're actually very well made. A colleague of mine who's a contracting hardware engineer offered to build me a replica set, but said he'd be pushed to do it for much less that the £1k they're being sold for.

If you want to checkout some interesting designs go to Hovercontrol There are a lot of simmers who will have a go at anything and some are very realistic and they have put in a lot of time and effort to make their hobbie as realistic as possible.
