Tony Field

Ladies and Gentlemen,

for those of you who knew him, Tony Field of the CAA Safety Regulation Group has passed away suddenly and unexpectedly.

Tony was an amiable and knowledgable man, well liked and respected amongst all of us in the Rotary wing world.

He will be sadly missed, by family, friends and colleagues.

As always at this time, my thoughts go to his family.

Dubs.

In the past nine years, I worked extensively with Tony firstly when he was responsible for the production of MEL Policy documents and latterly when he was a surveyor in the Powerplant Department of the CAA. He was knowledgeable without being arrogant and was always available to provide assistance when requested.

Tony, in pragmatically seeking solutions, represented the face of the ‘can do’ and helpful regulator (a fact that many of you might find difficult to comprehend). He assisted the industry by providing analyses to support the principle of exposure in operations; he also provided his expertise to make the guidance on continuing airworthiness more practical and understandable for the operational community.

Most of you will never have met or dealt with Tony but will have benefitted from his experience; I, among others, will miss his friendly demeanour.
