Fires in Brisbane
Just wondering if we have any PPRuNe'rs who were dropping water up the back of my house today ... ?
Anybody else have any details on the operation? I heard there were at least three helicopters over the fire, not sure how many with buckets/belly tanks.

You have got some B3s on contract in Brisbane with bellytanks. They are based at Archerfield and are Helicopters Australia aircraft and crew. I would imagine they would be first call to any fires in the Brissy area. Nice aircraft, beautifully presented. Worth a look if you are out Archerfield way.

I saw them last night when I got home, I missed out on seeing them in the local park by about 1 minute late in the day, but yes it was Helicopters Australia.
It's still looking pretty hairy out there, I wouldn't be surprised if they're back out today. Keep safe.
If I get any decent pictures I'll try to get them up here.

Not from there
I saw two on the teev, (hope they have more than that to call on) and neither were the HA Squirrels.
One was a White and Blue Jetranger the other a BK in energex colours I think.... probably TV File footage, can't beat that for great reporting.

G'day Tex.
I believe the white and blue JetRanger is the Channel 10 helicopter, and the HA helicopters I saw had a green and white paint scheme so could be mistaken for Energex. Big numbers painted on the sides though - 668/669?
From http://helicopters.com.au/ourfleet.html :
Note green tail on top pic.

Some nice pics in the gallery too (didn't take time to work out how to link to them here).

Hey WTBF,
HMM could have been it then, just caught a glimpse on the tele.
Both the belly tank Squirrels I saw at Heli Aust YBAF are in red and white (As per the picture I posted...it is 668) I guess it is all rather moot as long as they drench the right spot

I'll get some pictures up later today, I got some good ones, I just have to get them off the camera.
HA does have a blue and white B3 Squirrel, so that's possibly where the confusion came from - apparently they have different coloured tails on each of the four B3's currently in Brisbane.
Yesterday there were three HA B3's at The Gap earlier in the day, and with the Channel 7 helicopter made the local park look like a Squirrel meet with four of them parked on the grass. Instant local attraction.
Had to keep the kids under control, who got a little excited and thought running under the tail between antennae and pitot tubes was a good idea.
It's a little cooler this morning, so hopefully they won't be needed, but the forecast is for a hot day, so we'll see.
Good on ya Jeff and Dale.
