Red face Industry Training Upgreade

I have been in Aviation since 1981, first as FW trying to save money like hell. Later in 89 switched to RW, blew another A$15K, got scared about no job prospects. Then in 99, really did it and spent another a$$$$ for CPL(H). But the point I am trying to make is Flying Schools always paint you the rosy picture of aviation employment as a low time pilot. I have been luckly myself that kind employers took me on...I really think that Flying Schools stop pretending that jobs are readily available. It is not fair on the students and the existing commercial pilots pool. Australia is a small RW community, and we are only making the matter worse by graduating more students. It may be time for the FW industry to look at the employers requirement and then adjust the flight training syllabus for future CPL(H) students. I have come in contact with CPL(H) holders that I would be reluctant to fly with...how did they pass the flight test???? <img src="rolleyes.gif" border="0">

Not sure what schools you came in contact with. But when I started training at one of the Moorabbin schools the first thing I was told is that getting a licence is hard work, but getting the first job is even harder! pretty straight stuff before I'd even spent a dollar.. .I'm currently working with a guy who was told the same thing by the other outfit down there.

I guess the age old advice of asking questions before you spend your money is worth remembering.
