Having just won the lottery later tonight, I'm wondering what helo to buy with my £10million.
What would be a reasonably priced, reliable a/c with commercial possibilities?

Jet Ranger, Squirrel, EC120, 109 power?
mmm, decisions decisions.

Why buy a helicopter. Put the money in a high interest account and live off the interest. That way you can buy time in any type of helicopter without having the responsibilities of ownership and still have a very nice lifestyle.

Is there such a thing as a high interest account these days with the base rate being what it is.
Helimutt, "The only way to make a small fortune in aviation is to start with a large fortune", as the old truism goes.

In order to spend the money in the wisest possible way, I would suggest a small fleet of helicopters for all occasions. I think that first you need a 109 Power as a personal runabout... it goes like the clappers and it's got beautiful Italian style. You'd better get a matching pair to cover hangar time. Then for hotdogging, get yourself a 500 - even after all these years you can't beat them for hooliganism. And forgive me for talking dirty, but you might spend your change on a second-hand Citation. That would pretty much cover all the bases.

I have to agree with Lu on this one.

I can say for sure that if I won any realu sum of money, there is no way on this earth I would by a helicopter, rent one yes, but never own!!!

Go with the high interest account!!

If it flies, floats or fornicates, it’s cheaper to rent by the hour.

Sod it, buy an Augusta 109, looks great parked next to the Ferrari.

To Helimutt: Well I have never seen a reasonably priced A/C so I'd recommend you do something else with your money than spending it on helicopters.... I totally agree with 4Rvibes on the old saying.

helimutt,

And there I was just about to flutter my virtual eyelashes at you in the hope of scrounging a ride in whatever wonderful new machine you'd bought . Ah well, back to reality and seeing if anyone anywhere wants to offer a job to a very new CPL(H).

Why are professioinal pilots so cynical??

Are the rewards in the end lesser than the enjoyment???
