The News referred to "Bristol" Helicopters - must mean Bristows?
Lagos
September 19
Two expatriate pilots, working for an oil service firm, Bristol Helicopters, were seriously injured last week after an armed robbery gang opened fire on their vehicle in Lagos.
According to a police source, Captain Allistair Kennedy, a Briton, and Captain Lion, a Malaysian, were on their way to Bristol Helicopters, Local Airport Ikeja, when the robbers struck.
The seven-man robbery gang reportedly attacked them at 7/8 Bus Stop, on the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Road, at about 6.30 A.M.
The two in the company of three other staff of the company were in a Mercedes Benz with Reg. No. BT 724 KTU.
After riddling the vehicle with bullets the robbers were said to have swooped on them and dispossessed them of an unspecified amount of money.
The victims were reported to have been rushed to Kupa Medical Hospital, Ajao Estate, from where they were later transferred to the Shell Medical Clinic, Marina, Lagos, because of their precarious condition.
Best wishes to both for a speedy recovery.

Not good news.
Was with a few guy,s from Bristow at the Bar last night here in Nigeria, and nothing was mentioned about this incident.
I'll check it out tonight and get a feed back.
This bloody robbers are becoming a norm in Lagos now, it's getting out of hand. I think it's time somebody got the EXECUTIVE CLUB in to get rid of them once and for all, no matter the cost.

One was shot in the derrier (detained in Hospital) and the other a slight injury to the ankle (released same day). There is a report on the Bristow email system somewhere. Both are recovering in the UK, no more news at present.

Now this is great news....due to get on the airplane next Tuesday and go back for my next hitch in Nigeria with Bristow. Am so glad to hear about this....why ever would we want a police escort like so many of the other companies use? Of course...they are shooting cops out of hand now days anyway! Wunderbar! Will attempt to get the straight skinny from management....(impossible dream!) and let you guys know.

Have just received an email from the Bristow Boss Wallah in Lagos....it was an attempted armed robbery of the early morning crew bus taking company staff to work at the airport. Not far from the Bristow compound, our bus was forced to a stop by a bus taxi, whereupon several armed men exited the taxi...fired shots in the air....our driver managed to drive away....one pilot was wounded in the leg, the other was shot in the "posterior". Both received medical care in Lagos, were flown to the UK for further medical care, and are now both at home recuperating. Security measures have been improved as a result. Another day in Paradise as 212Man always says!
