Post SA.365 Incidents?

On May 17th 1999 a Lufttransport SA.365N Dauphin LN-OLT lost its horizontal stabiliser in flight. On July 20th 1997 a PLMI Dauphin G-PLMI lost its left horizontal stabiliser in flight. On May 25th 2001 Icelandic Coast Guard Dauphin TF-SIF reportedly 'suddenly pitched up, then down and then up' - landed safely but some damage. On December 27 1990 Dauphin JA9632 reportedly suddenly pitched down and crashed into the sea. There are also said to have been two 'similar' incidents in France (incidents or minor damage accidents).

Does anyone know of similar accidents/incidents where a Dauphin 2 has lost a horizontal stab. or unexpectedly pitched up or down?

I do not know the details of the two USCG Dolphin Crashes out of Humbolt, California...but they lost two machines in pretty quick sucession. These were the only two Dolphin crashes the Coasties have had in a long time. Might be interesting to see what their investigations turned up.

Mr Nosy,

God was that 4 years ago now!!!! was flying in G-PLMI that day when it happened! there wasn't a great deal of pitching up and down in the cruise you could tell something was wrong though with the yaw to the left and having to put in rudder input to correct, but the stabiliser actually detatched in the hover approaching to land and was quite unstable after that.

The Spa that was bought for G-PLMI had like accumulated like 200 hours and was removed from another SA365C1 a few years ago but was supplied with a vaild JAA Form 1.

It didnt help matters when we got a*******s with there S61's coming in over the tops of us at Troon helipad during the open golf championship, there was a H in the middle of the landing zone but those guys thought it appopriate to come over the smaller parked AS350/355/365 B206/R22's and when u seen some of the blades and stabilizers bouncing up and down it certainly might not have caused the incident but it certainly didnt help matters any.
