Question Chinooks in W. Sussex

I'm in Shoreham-by-sea, a few miles west of Brighton. For a couple of days last week (Wed/Thur?) there was a lot of military chopper activity in the area - including Chinook(s?)
Anyone got any idea what was going on? There's an air show in Shoreham in September - any connection?

A Chinook was spotted on the ground on the edge of Binsted Wood near Arundel on Wed morning (West of Shoreham). Later in the morning a crew was on site removing rotor blades and by the next morning, nothing there! A difficult task to remove the aircraft by road vehicle - or was it a routine field exercise?
