H300 Down at YBMC

Rumour has it that a H300 crashed while practicing autorotations at Maroochy Airport and the helicopter is a write off. The student and instructor escaped uninjured.

Any truth in the rumour?????

H300 Dunno

If it is the H300 it may belong to Beckers. Might pay to scan the local Maroochy News, that is"the news that affects yous!"

Yes, I am hearing that it was the helicopter of Mike Beckers.

That is the second Hughes that he has lost, but of course these mishaps do not stop him from winning the accolades of his industry, such as the “Captain John Ashton Award for Flight Standards and Aviation Safety by the Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators of London.”

"Captain Becker’s school has achieved an unrivalled 18,000 hours of accident-free flight training".

Somehow this seems to be ignoring his first Hughes write-off, where fire was consuming the machine.

I'm trying to do the arithmetic that will tell me when in the future his school will actually have done 18000 hours of training, but my little calculator doesnot have enough numbers.

H300 down but not out!

Well, the good news is that Becker is now dabbling in the aviation insurance industry along with wife, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, a real family affair.

This should not only produce a record payout for his H300 but also in record time! Which is more than most students get from him!

The insurance company just happens to be owned by an old and very close family friend who just happens to be the nice chap who wrote the glowing endorsement that won him the last award for all those accident free hours.

Conveniently forgetting the Kawasaki KH4 he wrote off in Katherine Gorge about fifteen years ago.

Tried to lift two Parks and Wildlife guys and their canoes up and
totalled the helicopter in the gorge. Like trying to pick yourself up by your own shoelaces.

I have been told that when this accident was mentioned to Mr GF, (the nominator), his reply was , "oh but that was a long time ago", brushing aside the fact that he had misrepresented the facts.

Certainly that award has lost some of its Kudos.
In the future the awarders will have to look a bit closer and more cynically at individuals that promote friends.

I was looking again at this company web pages.

Many of the employees that you see happy photographs of are not now employed there!

Also still is there the crashed helicopter FIZ as if flying, and the Squirrel which is non-operational.

If you put 'Becker' in the Search function, you can read the posts.
