Cheap Rotorway anybody?
Spotted on eBay, I haven't the cash or inclination but may interest some of you chaps and chappesses.

This one's got a valid Permit to Fly and all mandatory mods complete. I flew it last year for it's Permit Renewal Flight Test and it was quite a smooth machine. With a bit of TLC and new paint it could be a very nice little chopper. I'd expect a reserve in the £25K bracket.

Arrrrrggghhhhhhhh!!!!!!! Stop tempting me. The second one especially looks like a good deal, and I flew a Rotorway for Today's Pilot and I loved it. But I can't afford it, don't know enough about it, shouldn't do it...so STOP!! !! ! !

Caution advised.
Early Exec models have many problems too numerous to mention here.
For example the magneto drive belt could fail in about one hour of use to name one of the problems in the design.
Rotorway doesnt support the old Exec.
Have someone with knowledge of old models inspect before buying.

I agree with you. I had a look at Bonzo a while back and considered buying it very seriously. In the end I decided on a R22 for other reasons but if somebody wants a cheap helicopter it would be a good bet.
I see that the other one has failed to meet its reserve. It seems to be a US import with a number of mods required to allow it to be UK registered so unless the buyer really knows what they are doing it has got to be a high risk purchase.

The vendor of the heli (the one linked by Genghis the Engineer) has been trying to sell it since the back end of last year. It was originally listed on ebay with a video of it flying and the sale also included a ‘spare’ helicopter!
As said above it would need specialist knowledge and experience not just the cash and enthusiasm.

I saw G-ESUS at the PFA Rally a few years ago. I got to sit in it when the owner/builder found out I was a helicopter pilot - he'd never met a woman who could fly helicopters before. 
Seems there are occasionally a few advantages in this industry to being female. 
The owner hadn't flown it and didn't seem to want to. Don't know if he sold it on, or if it's still the same owner; I wondered when I saw it at the London Air Show, but didn't have time to ask.

Rotorway back on Ebay
I see that 'questionable' Rotorway's made a return to Ebay's listings....."The winning bidder couldn't speak English".............really......or was it that he found out about the heli's history ?
Shouldn't the seller be upfront about said history.....I think so ?

Honesty is a thing that seems to be in short supply, especially when selling/buying from a site such as E Bay, Very few Non Heli people would be daft enough to make a bid worth more than the scrap value of some sort of craft such as this if the history was in doubt!
But as with all purchases of second hand things the words " Caveat Emptor" (buyer beware) should ring loud and long in your ears before making a bid or parting with cash!
