Chopper down in Swansea
Just been told that a helicopter has crash landed at Swansea Airport. Apparently it was a Robinson. Anyone have any more info? Is the pilot/passengers ok?

Don't you just love it when you find out your helicopter has been written off via PPRUNE.
Rumour is pilot was hovering downwind with two passengers and lost control.
Nobody injured except my wallet…

The registration is G-SYTN Raven 1 with just over 340hrs total time.
There is a DVD from the security camera of the crash, haven't seen it yet but those who have tell me the pilot was hover taxing to park, as he turned downwind the back of the machine rises, the main rotor hit the ground and came round chopping the tail off. Machine fell to the ground and rolled onto its side.
Thanks for the condolences. I was looking forward to flying it when I return to the UK in the summer.... Anyone know of a nice 44 to hire in Wales?
And to add further insult to injury, it had just had a £9K star annual two weeks ago

I think that would be a UK record then, for the first G mark R44 to appear in 2 AAIB reports (when it comes out) following the 'instrument incident' in June 2002.
