R22/R44 Factory Insurance Scheme
Does anyone know anything about the Robinson-backed insurance scheme for R22/R44s?
Is it limited to aircraft owned by US residents, or can Robinson customers around the world get insurance under the scheme?
Any experiences with it, good or bad?
Thanks

Not too sure about the details but Frank has a 'lot' of input and ??? $$ to the scheme... hence what Frank specifies regarding the policy details and endorsements goes.
Its a while since I looked into it but think it's things like must have factory course, no pax until Xhrs after PPL, etc. There are other more suitable and less restrictive policies out there but I guess it depends on your intended usage of the machine.
Call the factory for the details maybe?

Its not a scheme but a company called Pathfinder Insurance. An indemnity company out of the Caymans ( I bet for Liability reasons). It is owned by the robinson family, and was set up as a means for the customer to get reasonable insurance. I think hull and liability on a r22 is like 2 grand a year mayby 5 for a r44. You have to meet certian criteria, attend the factory saftey course, etc. You can find all that stuff on the net.

Well I don't know of any Robinson-scheme for insurance but I have my R22s insured by Pathfinder at a fraction of what Falcon Insurance quoted me. New 2004 zero time R22 for rental and flight instruction cost me $9240/yr with a 10% deductible. My 1998 R22 with 498 hrs leased for fligth instruction and rental cost me $6200/ yr. You do the math. BTW Pathfinder doesn't have a telephone or internet. Everything is completed by fax. But I had everything within in 2 days from request.

I e mailed Pathfinder after reading this thread and they replied very quickly that they do not operate in the UK any more. Does anybody know why? I would have thought the UK was a much less risky market for insurers than the US. My company obtained a 30% reduction in our product liability insurance premium last year just by ceasing all sales to the USA.
