no hazard to the public

"The California National Guard is asking the public's help in locating a high-tech thermal imaging device that apparently fell off a helicopter in flight.

According to a Guard spokesperson, the HH-60L Blackhawk helicopter was en route from Mather Field in Sacramento to the Gustine Monday morning when the forward-looking infrared camera disappeared.

The device, which is about the size and shape of a basketball, weighs about 96 pounds.

Guard officials emphasize that it does not pose any hazard to the public."

Well, not after the first bounce, perhaps!

Harrumph!
