***ash Cloud Over North Sea**
Just had a call at work from met man in Aberdeen (0600hrs!) advising that by 1200 today (fri 5th) the volcanic ash cloud from the recent eruption in Iceland will be covering an area from Schiehallion field to just east of Shetland, heading south-easterly to cover down towards the Britannia/Alba and to the east by 1800. Height they believe may be affected is from surface to FL200. East Shetland basin seems to be outwith the projected track. Advise everyone to double check notams etc as unsure how thick/intensive ash cloud may be.

The eruption is receding now but has been spectacular to see until now, though not a very unusual ocurrence in Iceland.
Latest NOTAM by ICAA no longer valid and no new issued by ICAA, however check NOTAMS in your area:
