Thumbs up How is the winner choosen?

Will PPRuNer's get to vote for the winner, or do we simply rely on the expert eyes of Autorotate & Heliport? For what it's worth, 407 Driver's pictures seem to be on top.. Lots of great photos, but 407 Driver has the best of the lot.

Rickster - It will be decided by myself and Heliport. I think after twenty years of shooting helicopters I have a pretty good idea of what is a good helicopter image

407Driver - Will allow everyone to enter 10 images each. With yours, you can enter on behalf of your ski guides so that doesnt effect the ones that you took yourself.

Hope that helps.

Captain Lai Hai
Spectactular pics certainly a contrast to where I am at the moment.
All the more reason to let us see some pics of where you are at the moment.

Remember guys .....

All you need is a digital photo or a scan of an ordinary photo.

If you don't have your own website, either use one of the free photo hosting services on the net (Photobucket.com is very easy to use) or e-mail the pic to us and we'll do the rest.

Going back to the initial post;
And each image must show the beauty of the helicopter, either static or working.
I feel those of us without the backgrounds recently posted are at a 'slight' disadvantage.
Beautiful scenery, I cannot fault, but isn't the aircraft 'just' landing, taking off, sitting there with mountain in background, etc?
The beauty of the helicopter, surely, is its versatility and not just the environment in which it is in.

Or did I just miss this as a photographic competition with a helicopter in it!

Disadvantaged Sid, in the 2nd city, England. (and it's raining!!)

Hey Sid, If it's only about Winning or Loosing.....I'll gladly withdraw all my Mountain Scenery pics from the contest.
I'm only here for they joy of Helicopter Photography and to share my pics with the guys 'round the world.

I looked at your pics and I feel that they're excellent. After my 25 years of staring at these darn mountains, it's a breath of fresh Air seeing your MD racing across the green fields and forests.

Diversity, one of the great beauties of the Helicopter

Voila, No Mountians....

Sid
No-one's disadvantaged - apart from people like me. Even if I had easy access to stunning background scenery and an expensive camera, my photos would still only be mediocre. Some people might say they're disadvantaged because they haven't got your experience taking aviation photos. Your pics are always very good.
Remember it's still early days - and nobody's won yet.

407 Driver
Please don't withdraw any of your pics. It's a real joy to see such a wide variety of photographs from all over the world.

Thanks Flying Lawyer, I never meant that I'd "remove" my pictures from view, just to remove myself from the competition if it makes some feel better.
I don't give a $H!T about winning anything. I'm here cause I love Photography.

As you mentioned, I also log in to this site to see the great pics from all over the world, Keep them coming !!

Oh, and I'm using an old relic 3.34 MP Nikon Coolpix 995 camera, a simple point and shoot device that's actually quite outdated.

Just wait and see some images if I find the $$ buy that spiffy new 6 MP Nikon D-70 SLR Digital. MMMMMMMM can't wait!!

407Driver & All,

Keep on posting the images. Remember as long as it has a helo in the picture then post it. If you think the helo has to be doing something, rather than just sitting somewhere with an awesome background, then think again. Some of the most amazing shots I have taken myself have been at sunrise, sunset or just seizing the moment and shooting the helo and its surroundings.

Not going to tell you what I am looking for because there are no rules. Depends on what I think of the image when I see it, thats it.

So keep entering away and looking forward to seeing them. For the record there are some great images on this thread so far, keep em coming.

I can only agree when F.L. said,
Please don't withdraw any of your pics. It's a real joy to see such a wide variety of photographs from all over the world.
As an Englishman, it's just in my nature to have a whinge when I don't think the odds aren't in my favour and to cry 'Foul' at any opportunity.
It's not the winning, it's the taking part is it not?
After my 25 years of staring at these darn mountains, it's a breath of fresh Air seeing your MD racing across the green fields and forests.
Nice one 407!!!

Love all the pics, just green with envy.
Today it is a Public Holiday and this afternoon it will be raining with isol CB and HVY RA SH.

But, I'm getting paid to fly.
