Question UK ; Self-fly-hire 206L

Hi all,

Can anyone recommend an operator who will SFH a 206L to a JAA CPL. It would also be convenient if they could do the differences training aswell in the checkout (to a BH06 type rating). I`m not bothered whether its L, L2,L4 as I just need the extra 2 pax. If you are/represent an operator, prices would be great. PM if so desired.

Thanks in advance.

I suspect it won't be easy to SFH a Longranger as a PPL. There are probably no more than a dozen in the UK, if that, and most of those are corporate owned/used for charter work. ie Not schools/SFH.

The thread will now probably be flooded with places that SFH to PPLs just to prove how little I know.

(Edit)
Just remembered .....
I heard (unconfirmed) Biggin Hill Helicopters had one last year, but I don't know if they still have or if it was/is available for SFH. Nothing to lose by giving them a call.
If they have and it is, I can highly recommend the standard of their helicopters and instructors.

Thanks again guys,

What about G-ELIT down at Goodwood? I think Elite Helis still run it.

G-OLDN is based at FAST, owned by Von Essen Aviation - essentially the guy who IS von Essen Hotels.

Best ring Tim @ FAST on 01264 772508 and ask nicely if it's available for SFH - with the right credentials they may do.

Biggin Hill Hc have 2xLR2 both imported from US in the last few months.

Tiger have an L3 at Shobdon which they use for training

Cabair have one of the ex Chester Air Maintenance L3s, but not sure if just hangared for customer or available

I'm relieved I was right about Biggin Hill Helicopters after being far too pessimistic about the prospects of PPL/SFH.

Looks like BHH is your answer Decimal
You've hired from them before and like them.

Re Cabair
They used to require an enormous deposit when renting JetRangers to PPLs in case they had a hot start. I can't remember the exact figure because I've always used HeliAir or BHH, but it was £20-25,000.

SFH B206L

Flying Lawyer

Sorry if i sound a little confused here, but Decimal was asking about SFH for A CPL qualified pilot, so why are you going on about SFH for PPL, when clearly the man is a commercial pilot?

Decimal

I would recommend Manston, BHH or Fast. Not heard too many good things about Tiger. Good luck with your quest to find the L in your life

Because I misread the question. Sorry.
Poor show for a lawyer, I know.
Decimal was clearly far too modest to point out he's not a PPL.

I promise I won't be "going on" about it any more.
