Thanks for the link to XRON's tip brakes. It's an interesting possibility. One good feature is that the pedals do not have to be reversed when the craft goes into autorotation.

On an earlier thread, Flight Safety came up with a similar idea. It consists of small clamshell type Gurney flaps on the blades.
