Logbook question: actual IF conditions column

In my logbook I have an extra column that says actual IF in cloud or words to that affect. Not that its really important but does one have to be the sole manipulator of the controls to log time time in this column; i.e. the PF. (This is not to be confused with the IFR column that all logbooks have btw and which I understand).

Thanks a bunch.

Come on guys someone must know. Do you log IF time (under JAR), only as sole manipulator of the controls?:uhoh: :uhoh: Therefore when you are acting as PNF you dont enter anything?

Also whats the accepted term now a days: P1/S or PICUS when a co pilot is PF.

Thanks

If you take the phrase "sole manipulator of the controls" literally, then the only guy who logs actual IR would be autopilot! PF or PNF doesn't matter as long as you're P. What you log is actual time under IMC. I don't know what conditions on mars are, but in central Europe it's about 5-10% of flight time for jet jockeys and up to 25% for turboprop drivers.

You're not either P1/S or PICUS, unless covered by your company trainning programme (and proper designator should be contained there too). Under JAR, the only purpose of PiCUS is to build required 250 hrs of PiC needed for the issue of full ATPL. What some people make out of PiCUS concept is pretty amusing.

I fly a turbo-prop without autopilot. For me the whole flight minus taxy time is logged as Instrument time. I've asked about this and been told it's perfectly acceptable, especially in a non-autopilot a/c because you are hand flying on instruments, even in VMC.
When I'm PF = P1U/S, PNF = Co-Pilot.
The point is to be able to talk the talk and walk the walk when someone (CAA) asks you to, they're not really interested in how you colour by numbers. And no, I am not advocating cheating or anything else of that kind. It's the way it is.
